Description
This wine-merchant is located in the historical downtown of Marino, just out the walls surrounding the ancient castle, in a place with a wonderful garden and buildings of the 16th and 17th century. This shop, which has been recently restored belongs to an ancient convent now transformed in an youth hostel. The inside is characterized by barrel vaults and false ceilings, with portals and particular windows, and walls built with peperino stones.
This company can host up to 60 customers (80 during summer when there are the seats outside). It is possible to taste local products by reservation, local courses and guided tasting of wines. Visitors can buy wines, jams, desserts and organic products in elegant baskets. It is possible to visit the caves where the Agostiniani monks stored wines and now used by the owner with the same purpose. Wine is sold in bulks and it is stored in barriques or in stainless steel tanks. In an another wine-cellar, always located in the historical downtown there is a show of tools used to make wine. By using the old methods it is produced a small quantity of wine that can be free tasted.
