Commonly called ‘Palazzaccio',
it was built between the 15th and the 16th century replacing an
ancient fortress destroyed by Boniface VIII (1294-1303) in 1298,
of which there are some ruins.
The past splendour of this palace is still marked by the rusticated
portal, surmounted by a clock tower, and the internal court
whose form is similar to the works of the Vignola, and consists
of two rows of peperino stones arches. The coats of arms of
the Colonna and of the Falconieri Families flank the principal
arch.
