Villa Falconieri |
|
|
|
Built on a previous structure before
the year 1549 by Monsignor Rufini for Paolo III Farnese (1534-1549)
it was widened according to the wish of Paolo Francesco Falconieri
following the Borromini’s design towards the middle of the
17th century, while the gardens were restructured according to
the wish of the Cardinal Paolo Falconieri in the 18th century.
It is worth mentioning the interior’s frescos that represents
the three building stages of the villa: the 16th century is represented
by P. de Vaga’s grotesques, the 17th century by the works
made by artists belonging to the school of P. da Cortona and C.
Maratta, and the 18th century by the L. Ghezzi’s paintings:
landscapes and panoramas.
